SAPRA – the International Association of Defence Products Manufacturers – participates in the work of the Defence Industry Consultative Council, representing the interests of Latvia’s defence, technology, and dual-use industrial ecosystem.
The Council serves as a coordinated platform for sector development, strategic alignment, and the exchange of expertise between industry and state institutions.

During the Council meeting, participants discussed support measures planned for 2026, including opportunities within European Union funding programmes and cooperation with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) to ensure a unified national representation at major international defence exhibitions in Europe, North America, and Asia.

The agenda also included an assessment of EU funding instruments proposed by the Ministry of Economics and their role in strengthening national defence and dual-use technology capacities.
In collaboration with LIAA, the ongoing company-mapping process continues, with an in-depth evaluation of industrial capabilities planned for 2026 to ensure alignment with strategic and technological priorities.

The Consultative Council brings together leading sectoral organisations, including SAPRA, contributing to policy development, coordinated planning, and the advancement of Latvia’s defence industry through structured dialogue and joint expertise.
